Finally Moving Forward
I thought rendering resignation was just a piece of cake. You resign and your managers will send their good luck regards and be happy for you. Never did I know that this will be the hardest decision I will ever make from the past 4 years of my entire career life.
I’ve been juggling different thoughts in my mind. The pros and cons: colleagues whom I’ve treated as friends even as my extended family, clients whom I dearly love. Not to mention the “living-the-life” status where I can work sometimes at home and coffee shops and most especially the hefty sales commissions. Enjoying all this stuff only make me feel to want more… stay longer but career progress wise I feel I’m stagnating.
After a week of updating my online resume. I got several calls from employers, most of which are offering sales or account manager post. I attended 2 interviews and luckily they are eager to hire me. But the eagerness to stay with my current employer won my decision. So just last week, I got a call from multinational company for an interview invite for the Product Manager opening. I felt so excited and anxious at that moment, because I’ve been working hard to attain that post. Plus its combination of marketing and sales strategy - perfect combination.
After panel and HR interview, I was immediately informed by their department head that I’ll be hired for the position. I felt extremely happy but at the same time extremely sad because this means finally goodbye.
I informed my manager about my final decision. Things got a little bit emotional especially with my presales tandem. They are convincing me to stay until the end of the year so I can help them out in hitting the annual sales target. But then I have to give them my firm decision.
I’m feeling guilty right now and sad. Just for the record, I never regretted to be part of them. I am who am I now because of them but I wanted a more clear career path which made this a no brainer decision. This was never an easy decision for me. I’m not sure if I can blend with those people I’ll be working with but hopefully yes. I just wish my self the best-of-luck and the people I’m leaving behind the same. I hope they won’t find this as a selfish decision.
My Dog Watcing Red Dog
You know I’m such a sucker for Dog films, Hatchiko and Marley & Me are my favorites. My sister recommended me to watch Red Dog so we set up a big screen in my brother’s chamber. Now, I have companion in watching the film because I’m watching it with my dog Twinkle.
I think twinkle got mesmerized by Red Dog in screen that she manages to watch and wag her tail every time Red Dog appears. So cute, because she felt sad when Red Dog died. She barked as if commanding Red Dog to wake up.
Red dog is based on legendary true story of dog that lived his life hitching rides and travelling in Pilbara Australia. The canine was adored and well taken care by the community. He had no master though until such time he chose a Bus driver to be his master. The dog traveled with his master in his bus trips. Red Dog’s master died, like the film Hachiko he waited for his master to arrive. When he finally realizes that his master is not returning home he decided to look for him and started his search journey on his own. Red Dog died because of poisoning. His body was found on his master’s grave.
It’s amazing how dogs are loyal with their master. I was wondering if my dog would the same for me. When, I first bought Twinkle I was so giddy to bring her home. Little did I know, that their lifespan is short and separation from her would be excruciating.
Buying a Shih Tzu (first hand experience)
Twinkle’s real name is ‘ZhenZhen of Rach-a-beth’ (as stated on her PCC registration certificate). I bought her 12,000Php at The Grooming Palace Pet Shop at Tiendesitas Pet Village. This includes 1 shot of vaccine, a small pack of dog food, leash, 1 free grooming service and discounts on their pet merchandises such as cage, dog shampoo and comb.
What I liked about The Grooming Palace pet shop is the basic sanitation and accommodating pet shop staff. They also, offer quality puppies you can see it for yourself.
Dogs that are registered at Philippine Canine Club, Inc. (PCCI) are more expensive as compared to non-registered dogs. PCCPI was organize to promote and encourage love for pure bred dogs.
This is how a PCCPI Registration Certificate looks like…
- It is like a birth certificate that lists down the date of birth of the dog, its sire and dam, color and specific markings.
- It shows the genetic lineage or ancestry (four generations in the case of the PCCI) of each dog.

Moving Forward this 2013
I’m still in-touch with my ex-colleagues in ITG to name them Mark, Jack and Les. I call them batch mates only because we are at the same age-bracket. Les was my girl buddy in the team during that time. I remember those days when we held an afternoon break just to talk about our ex-DM.
Mark was the first one who decided to leave, next was Les then last year was Jack. Three of them were seeking for greener pasture and a clear career path. They had to leave me behind. Nonetheless, I’m one of the person who convinced them to leave, that they deserve more because they really are potential talents.
Way back 2011, I was ready to leave ITG. However, due to my respect to my superiors I decided to give it one more shot. So I stayed last year. Anyway, I still have to prove myself that time because I haven’t reach my target last 2011. I was 2 million short. Other than that, it would be a lost if I leave because they are having hard time hiring account managers.
Last 2012, defines who we are. Promises were spoken once we hit our target such as possible job promotions, possible increase in salary, possible new benefits and larger office. Everybody worked their ass-off for the team. At the end of the year we earned a hundredfold.
Efforts, were taken credit. We had a decent Christmas Party, we were given bonus money and just recently we moved to a larger and conducive office. Then whats next? It’s seems that the picture is not yet clear for me. Do we have to prove another 2013 a hundredfold from last year?
I know that the management is doing their best to give their employee the best. Is it selfish to wish more for yourself? I mean, is it bad to seek for other opportunities that you know would help your career grow? Who doesn’t want to work for multinational companies anyway?
So now, having said all this. I’m opening myself for possible opportunities be it in MBA school or new industry because its about time.
P.S. I miss you guys (Les, Jack and Mark)

Weekend Badminton
As part of my “Balik Alindog 2013" project, I asked my little sister and brother to play badminton. Luckily, there’s a near badminton court on our village. Most of the players in the badminton court are smashing their shuttlecocks like a pro. Apparently, kami lang ang newbies in the court on that time.
We went for a 2 hour badminton game which we really didn’t take seriously. I thought it will only cost me Php200.00 yun pala its Php200.00 per hour so that’s 400 bucks for just 2 hours.
Anyway, for the love of fitness I won’t feel bitter about it. It’s advisable if you rent a badminton court in team of four because individually you’ll spend lesser.

My Busy Boyfriend
Since Marko started working for a multinational FMCG company, he started being busy. He works late night just to meet their report deadline.
I bought him an Acer laptop last Christmas so he can use it for work because they haven’t issued him yet a company laptop. Now, he’s always spending more time with his laptop and talks more with his cellphone.
He sleeps in our house most of the time since his office is more accessible in my place. We rarely have some long conversation since most of the time he is preoccupied and as I have said he works late night so I’m already asleep by the time he finish his paperwork.
We spend time work together in coffee shops. Our laptop on, cellphone on our ears to make and accept some calls. We give some short remarks about each other. Majority of the time we talk about how’s our work doing, how’s the people in our workplace doing, task to be done at work etc. etc.
That’s how our relationship work this time: VERY MODERN!

Red Hat Forum Manila 2013
Last January 22, 2013 our company joined the Red Hat Forum Manila 2013 hosted at Makati Shangri-La. I was assigned together with other colleagues to take care of our company booth. During the event I was able to meet Red Hat Singapore team which we will be working closely with.
The event went well. Most of the attendees came from large telco companies such as PLDT, Smart, Globe and Digitel. A few are from government agencies and schools.

Everyone had a sumptuous meal. From Breakfast, snacks and Lunch. Makati Shangri-La served healthy dishes in the menu such as maki rolls, sashimi, crab salads and mouthwatering dimsum plates.

It was 6 hours of chatting with leads and possible clients. So far, we did well in getting their names which we will possibly touch-base for future requirements.
I've seen familiar faces whom I met on previous IT events before. Some are my existing clients. This is one of the best part of being in sales because you get to meet different people, both of you share ideas and you offer possible solution to meet their needs.
